Cartels, paramilitary groups and international monetary situation and economic crisis have left the Mexican government weakened. Mass protests in Northern and central Mexico have wracked a government whose hold on power had been growing tenuous. Officials in Texas have started to see the violence cross the Rio Grande River and the economic crisis has left people increasingly desperate for means to supplement their income. This is the Mexico that awaits the world community in the year 2009. The Rio Grande crisis committee plans to address some of these problematic issues through a joint conference between the United States and Mexico in order to tackle the drug trade and improve border security. Delegates, depending on the authority, resources and personal characteristics of the individuals they will be representing, will react in ways to ascertain one goal: the stabilization of the situation that is occurring in their area of control.
