"Take me out to the ball game." Together, the Players Association and the Team Owners represent the negotiating body of Major League Baseball. All decisions involving the direction of the MLB require the agreement of both the Owners and the Players, and must pass through both bodies. In the past, they have dealt with situations like the 1994 Players strike, the drug policy issue, and luxury tax and salary issues, and are endowed with a huge amount of control over the direction of the sport. In a special meeting requested by both the Owners and Players Association, the committees will convene to discuss several keys issues pertaining to the future of the MLB. Delegates will discuss the World Baseball Classic, compensation and the salary cap, as well as exciting, unforeseen developments within the league.
